Half of the employees of the veterinary hospital in Namangan sent to harvest cotton
Exactly half of the 47 employees of the veterinary hospital in the city of Namangan were forcibly sent to pick cotton and to stay at the workplace overnight.
Earlier, the khokim (head of administration) of the city of Namangan, Bahodir Bekhodjaev, had claimed that veterinarians would not be sent to pick cotton, since they faced the challenge of preventing the emergence of diseases transmitted from cattle to man.
According to the hospital staff, this year, individual cases of human infections related to the abovementioned diseases were diagnosed. The authorities however did not inform the public about these cases.
Currently, half of the remaining employees of the veterinary hospital were given the task to work in an “emergency mode”, meaning that they had to work also for those who left to harvest cotton.
