“People come back home after having picked cotton and have no electricity”
The following message was received from one of the numerous people that have been forced to pick cotton in Uzbekistan.
This person is a resident of the Ravalliq Makhalla (district) in the city of Jizzakh, in the Jizzakh region. According to him, there is a shortage of electricity in the whole district. Electricity supply is suspended every day in the evenings. “People come back to their homes in the evenings after having picked cotton and have no electricity”, he says.
“When one picks cotton all day long and afterwards returns back home, he/she naturally wants to have a shower, cook and have dinner, and eventually have some rest. But they keep switching off electricity in the evenings. Is this fair?”
Prior to this, there have been several reports of suspended gas supply in the Gallaorol district.
